WIP and Yarn Along 4/24/13

Good Morning! Happy Wednesday! I am already counting down to the weekend.  I've had extra hours at work and have to work half a day Saturday which cuts into crafting time.  We've had a rough couple days weather wise in the Midwest at the end of last week.  Lots of rain and lots of flooding.

Onto today's post...Joining in with Tami and Ginny as normal today.

My purple and gray blanket is finished. I am not thrilled about it.  Apparently my tension got tighter after the first 10 rows or so...so it shrunk in size.  I will probably put a border around it and see if maybe I can somehow even it out that way.  Has this ever happened to anyone? I'll save the rest for a FO post but since my new project is the same pattern just in boys colors I figured it was relevant in this post.  I have to watch this time around to make sure it stays even. I literally just started this project and the picture will show my starting chain as I have not even completed an entire row yet. It will be green, white and blue.

I am still working on a ruffle scarf but have been kind of blah about it.  It's not my favorite thing to work on lately even though they are so quick to make.  I started another blanket over the weekend as well that is circles within squares and would be a great portable project because I can join everything later.  I was following a pattern but with my tension the pattern didn't work at all so I'm just kind of winging it and making up my own pattern based on the original.

Reading has been an anatomy textbook and the same Kay Hooper book.

Have a great day! Check out Tami and Ginny's sites for more on what other bloggers are working on and reading!

WIP and Yarn Along 4/17/13

Good morning everyone! It's time for the weekly check in with Tami and Ginny to see what we are all reading and crafting.

Before I go any further I just wanted to say that my heart goes out to Boston and anyone who has family and friends affected by this.  It truly breaks my heart.

The loss of my crafting mojo on Monday seemed so insignificant once news of Boston broke.  I will say that it only lasted a day and I picked up the blanket again last night.  I didn't get very far but I'm hopeful that maybe there will be a FO post for it this week but it will depend on whether I want to add a border to it.  As I had mentioned in Monday's post I started a ruffle scarf but haven't really made much progress on it.  I haven't frogged the pink blanket yet.  It's just sitting there because I hate to rip back when I spent so much time on it.  I am thinking that I might try the same stitch but holding two strands together to make it go a little faster.

As for reading, I started a James Patterson book called Merry Christmas Alex Cross.  James Patterson is one of my favorite fictional crime authors and so far he is not disappointing with this book.  That is all I have for today.  I hope everyone has a great day and I'll see you on Friday!

Crafting Mojo

Have you ever lost your crafting mojo?

That's kind of where I am today.  I was fine almost the entire weekend.  Racing through to a color change on my purple/gray blanket Saturday morning.  I was like a kid in the candy store on Saturday standing in Hobby Lobby looking at all the displays.  Then Saturday night I started working on bracelets that people had ordered from my friend.  Then crafting time on Sunday was working on more bracelets as samples for people to look at.  Once I finished that all of a sudden I wasn't interested in that purple/gray blanket that I am getting SO CLOSE to finishing. I just started the final color and then all I have left is 10 rows of gray to end it. So we're talking about 31 rows to finish.  That's the HOMESTRETCH and yet I just don't want to.  So I started another ruffle scarf figuring maybe I needed another quick project on my hook.  I did about 10 rows of that and set it down.  So last night I did nothing.  Today I usually have enough time in between getting ready and leaving for work to squeeze in a couple rows on whatever I'm working on and I have no interest.  I have lost my crafting mojo for the day it appears. Maybe it's a case of the Mondays. I'm not sure but I hope it returns tonight as I'm feeling a little lost without my crafts.

In the meantime I'll leave you with a bracelet that I made yesterday.  I think it's really pretty. Definitely one of my favorites so far.  I hope you all have a fantastic day!

WIP and Yarn Along 4/10/13

Good Morning Everyone!

It's time for the weekly link up with Ginny and Tami. I am still slowly reading the same Kay Hooper book.  It normally doesn't take me this long to read a book but I've been more interested in crafting lately.  I have also been studying so that is taking time away from everything as well.

In terms of WIPs I have two.  I apologize for the bad pictures, it is really gloomy here so there's no natural light. The first is the blanket that I was working on last week.  It's the lacy one in pink/purple yarn.  I have a feeling I am going to rip that one out because it is taking forever and I'm losing interest in it.  I started, well I guess re-started would be more accurate since I managed to snag it yesterday and had to start over, a new blanket with two strands of yarn held together and it's going really fast and I think it's going to be fantastic! It is going to be gray and two shades of purple. I may use the same stitch on the pink/purple yarn once I rip it out. I also have the yarn out to start my next ruffle scarf.

I hope you all have a fantastic day!

FO Friday 4/5/13

As I have been promising for several weeks now I am FINALLY posting some of the items I've finished recently. I apologize all of the pictures are on my Iphone as I tend to forget to take pictures of the bracelets until I'm about to give them to my friend.  My most exciting FO is my spring (gender neutral) ripple blanket! This will be listed in my Etsy shop that I am opening.  (Hopefully this weekend since we are supposed to have nice weather I can get some shots in the sun)  I also made a couple of men's bracelets, a finished ruffle scarf and a couple more bracelets including a new I guess you could call it a design that I tried out but the finished product didn't match what was in my head. And there are bracelets for two little girls that will be tied with string and I love the colors they picked out!

I'm joining in with Tami today for FO Fridays!!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and I'll see you next week!

WIP and Yarn Along 4/3/13

Happy April Everyone!!

I had planned to post last Friday but that obviously did not happen! My brother flew in as an Easter surprise so the end of the week was spent catching up/driving him around since he had no vehicle.  I promise there WILL be a FO Friday post this week.  Mainly because I finally finished and edged my spring ripple blanket!!!! I hope you all had a fantastic Easter.

I am planning on opening an Etsy shop and the ripple blanket will be my first item for sale!

Now onto WIP's and reading.  Reading has pretty much been non existent for the past week unless it involved tutorials/advice on edging blankets.  I've been glaring at the textbook that I should have started last week while I was on vacation but chose not to because I wanted a mental vacation as well.  I went back to work on Monday so things are back to normal but I wouldn't have minded extending my vacation.  I started a girls baby blanket last week and have not made that much progress on it since then as you will see.  I also started a ruffle scarf in a really neat metallic black and silver color called diamonds. And as always there are bracelets in the making.

The last picture is Diesel and the cat.  He is feeling so much better! He went back to the vet and got his staples out so he can start to slowly start building up his walks until he's back to normal!
