Black Wednesday!

Hi Everyone!  I know today is supposed to be Yarn Along and WIP Wednesday and that I also missed last week.  Which I have a good excuse for....I was home sick.  I caught a doozy of a cold.  I've currently set aside all the blanket projects I've been working on to focus on making cowls for the Etsy shop that I just opened.  It's going to have all kinds of accessories.  Hair bows, hair ties, barrettes, cowls and jewelry.  I opened with two items and already sold one so it looks kind of bare but tomorrow I'm working on editing pictures before Thanksgiving Dinner and should have some items up for the weekend so head on over and check it out!

If you need a last minute turkey day bow for your little girl check out my tutorial here

I'm also doing a giveaway on the Facebook page for Bella by Daisy.  Once we reach 50 followers I will be picking a random winner for these rainbow chevron hair ties.  I would love if you would head on over and follow!

Turkey Bow Headband Tutorial

Hi Everyone! I just thought I would share this quick and easy Turkey Bow tutorial.  I think even with stopping to take pictures it took me about 20 minutes to make.

Supplies:

Tape Measure/Ruler
Glue Gun
Yellow, Orange and Brown (Brown is optional) Ribbon
Googly Eyes
Clip
Headband
Brown Button
Scissors
Piece of felt

See picture below

Cut 3 orange ribbons and 2 yellow ribbons to 5 inches each and heat seal the ends

Then take a piece of orange ribbon and cut it into a triangle for the bird's beak.  So you'll have these pieces of ribbon:

Take each of the 5 ribbons and glue them into a loop as you see below:

Then glue the eyes and beak to the front of the brown button and set aside to dry:

Go back to your 5 ribbons and alternating orange then yellow glue them together at the tips at an angle to create his feathers as you'll see in the pictures below.

When you are done it will look like this:

Put glue on the back of the button and press the button down onto the middle where the feathers all meet:

Now your turkey is finished!  Here is what you will need to continue putting it on the clip.  Cut out 2 squares of felt.

Glue one piece of felt to the back of the turkey bow:

Glue the second piece to the inside top of the bow as you can see below:

Then glue the two pieces of felt together so that the clip is now attached to the bow.

Then just slide the clip onto your headband and you can use it as a headband or as a clip in your little girl's hair.  If you have any questions let me know!

Yarn Along and WIP 11/13/13

Happy Wednesday!  I'm joining up with Ginny and Tami today for Yarn Along and WIP Wednesday.  I've been pretty productive this week on some projects and others....not so much and I'm starting to have a guilty conscience about it. First up is the daisy granny blanket.  As you can see it's done being assembled.  I love it! I still need to weave ends in and make a border for it.

In the picture below you can get a really good idea of all the ends to weave...not my favorite part of a project.  One of these days I'll learn to weave as I go.

Next up is the bubble gum chevron that I was working on over the summer.  I was calling it done but I just pulled it out and decided it needs a border.  So Sunday I worked on squaring it off and hopefully this weekend I'll have the border done.

Close up of the chevron just because!

So...Monday we had our first real snow.  We had snow a couple weeks ago but it didn't really accumulate it was mainly showers here and there.  Monday it actually started collecting on the ground.  It was only a dusting but it's still something! So I was taking the dogs out that night and it was FREEZING!!! So when I came back in I decided it was time to crochet that cowl that I've been thinking about.  (forget the fact that I already have cowls, I needed to make the one in my head) I love the royal blue color.

And finally...the kitchenaid cover that has been feeling neglected this week and is giving me a guilty conscience.  I'm just bored with it.  Another couple inches and I'm sure I'll like it so much more because I'll be nearing the end but for now...eh just don't want to deal with it.

That's all I've got for today.  Head on over and see what everyone else is working on!  Have a great day!

WIP and Yarn Along 11/6/13

Good morning everyone!

All day Monday and a little bit of Tuesday as well I kept saying time is dragging.  It's taking forever to get to the end of the week and while that still feels true...it's finally Wednesday and as I was typing out the date I realized time really is trucking along.  It'll be Thanksgiving before we know it!  I wish I had some fantastic new projects to show you but unfortunately it's more of the same.

The granny daisy blanket is moving along.  I have the row I'm on plus one more granny square row before I do the last row of daisies.

Here is my almost nonexistent progress on the Kitchenaid cover.  I have a more difficult time knitting versus crochet and I've been working on this so much that my hand/wrist has been bothering me.  Which worked out perfect because I am determined to get my shop open this weekend and I just received some holiday themed elastic for hair ties and headbands.  I'm so excited about this! I just love the holidays!!!

And elf feet! I can't wait to do an elf on the shelf themed pack of hair ties.

I'm not really reading anything because I have given up on Salem's Lot.  I just can't get interested in this book.  It's too much to concentrate on.  I can't wait to hear what everyone is reading!

I'm linking up with Tami and Ginny (who just had a beautiful baby boy yesterday so I'm not sure if she will be posting a Yarn Along post this morning)
